Speed Guides

Horsetorque is the only place whereyou can access the exclusive Speed Guides, they are a form guide like no other , they lay the form out in an easy to read format and have one major addition, every horses race time is converted to a number so you can easily discover why it pays to know the fast ones.

You can see more example of the Speed Guides in action in the Form Guide Archive section but they are only available to members for as little as $46 per month.

Lets have a look at Speed ratings in action, below is an example of the Horsetorque Speed Guide (the writing in between each horse is for the purposes of this article only) as found in the members area. The race we will use is from Randwick on the 12/8/06.

The guide is easy to use, NUM is the horses TAB number, Horse is the Horses name, Date is the date of the horse’s runs (latest on top), GDE is the Grade it ran in,the Grades are

The next 2 categories are self explanatory Distance & Track. DV is Daily Variant, as a guide, a Rating < -.5 is Fast, -.4 to .5 is Good, .6 to 1.9 is Dead, 2 to 3.5 is Slow >3.5 is Heavy. Place needs no explanation, BM is beaten Margin & HSR is the vital and exclusive element the Horsetorque Speed Rating Now lets have a look at the race below.

Romare rated a strong 101 last start at Eagle Farm, but this was her best run for well over a year, she had struggled to break 90 in the last 12 months . She looks likely to bounce and return to her previous form in the low 90's, but her 101 last start was on its merits, she must be given some chance & is a must for the multiples.

Fire Song has been most consistent of late in the wet, her last start on a Heavy track was her best but the prospect of a better surface may go against her, I would expect her to rate around her dry form numbers, some where in the low 90's

Lyn's Money is a versatile mare, she rated a strong 99 in Scone at her last start, equaling her 99 set in Open Mares grade at Randwick last winter. Fit and in form she could be expected to repeat the dose.

Rosecutter was most impressive rating 101 resuming, but her numbers had gone downhill since, although not really suited around Warwick farm last start her rating of 79 was way below her best., the better surface will suit & there was no doubt she would improve, she was likely to rate between 91 and 101.

Lil Elsa is a non winner, she has tempted many times before & has only been able to pick up a race at Pt Macquarie in the last 12 months, knowing her as I do I know she is unlikely to repeat her 98 of last start, I would put her in my multiples but happy to risk her winning.

Soliel's recent numbers just arnt competitive around the 85 mark, some improvement can be expected but not likely to rate higher than about 92.

Sacred Hit is versatile on all going, but is just not going like he was early last year, sound win in the wet last start rating 90, has scope to improve a couple of points and has definate place claims.

Sol Mere was disappointing resuming rating 77, her best form is usually her fresh form but she doesn't appear comfortable with the sting out, happy to risk her winning 2nd up on a Slow track.

Ali Gee's best form is in the wet, she has had that her last 2 and only managed a 78, she has too lift way too much.

Logically this looked a race with 2 main chances, Lyns Money & Rosecutter with Romare, Lil Elsa, Sacred Hit & Fire Song the other place chances

Horsetorque members feasted on this race. With equal top rater Lyn\u2019s Money winning at the luxury price of $17.60, Rosecutter was over bet went around gross unders found trouble and got up for 3rd on the line. Romare lived up to the Eagle Farm run and was also big overs., The Lyns Money / Romare exacta was huge overs paying around $250. Who says there is no value left in racing.
